The Dovecote
The original dovecote has been converted into attractive self-catering accommodation. One of the bedrooms is on a mezzanine gallery under a vaulted wooden ceiling.
It features a living area on the ground floor, with an open plan kitchen, a master bedroom and bathroom. Stairs lead to a mezzanine gallery where there is a double bed under a vaulted wooden ceiling.
The cottage is next to the walled garden of Cley Windmill, and dinner or breakfast are available by arrangement at the mill.
Often used as an atmospheric TV and film backdrop, Cley’s converted windmill makes for a unique Bed and Breakfast setting with commanding views over the salt marshes. It sits on the Norfolk Coast Path, ideal for exploring a dramatic coastline designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Cley-next-the-Sea was once a thriving quayside community until the port silted up and the marshes and reed beds created a natural sanctuary for numerous rare birds, now administered by the National Trust. Cley is a picturesque village of Georgian and Flemish architecture, with a delicatessen and a famous smokehouse.
The Georgian market town of Holt with its antiques and art stores is nearby, while the cathedral city of Norwich is a fifty-minute drive.
