The Olde Windmill Inn, Great Cressingham

The Olde Windmill, a hostelry for over 400 hundred years, retains all its traditional charm in three beamed bars, all steeped in history. The menu offers tasty, well-prepared food at affordable prices and a fine range of real ales and wines in seven separate dining areas. Children are made welcome – the inn has gardens and a children’s play area.

Fourteen smart new bedrooms are now offered with en suite facilities and a range of extra comforts.

The Olde Windmill is set in the rural village of Great Cressingham in Breckland, just five miles from the historic town of Swaffham, with beautiful Georgian buildings and a magnificent church. The town is a great place to visit, especially on Saturdays when the weekly market with over seventy stalls is in full swing.

In the unique rural landscape of the Brecks, the driest part of the UK, there are numerous opportunities for cycling, hiking and horse riding on ancient tracks and forest trails. The award-winning Pensthorpe Nature Reserve is a local attraction and Thetford Forest is a short journey.

The medieval port town of King’s Lynn is just over a half hour drive with many fine streets and ancient maritime buildings to explore. Royal Sandringham, Houghton Hall and the long sandy beaches of the stunning North Norfolk Heritage Coast are also within easy reach.

The magnificent cathedral city of Norwich, offering a rare blend of medieval treasures and modern sophistication for dining and shopping is under an hour’s drive.
