The Stiffkey Red Lion

The Stiffkey Red Lion provides chalet-style hotel accommodation where the ground floor rooms boast a private terrace area and the first floor offers commanding views over Stiffkey valley.

Rooms are light and airy, well equipped with modern facilities and have a private entrance. An environmentally-friendly sedum roof keeps the hotel warm in winter and naturally cool in summer. A family room is available, while two recently converted suites sleep up to five people.

The adjacent pub was built in the 1600s and is listed in the Good Pub Guide. The seasonal menu features local specialities such as mussels, whitebait, herring and crab. Guests have a choice of traditional full English or continental among other options.

The village of Stiffkey boasts salt marshes hailed as the last true wilderness in lowland Britain, flush with purple sea lavender in summer and inhabited by curlews and redshanks. ‘Stewkey Blues,’ cockles stained blue by mud, are a local speciality.

Nearby attractions on the Heritage Coast include the basking seals of Blakeney Point and the magnificent Holkham Hall, with its nearby beach voted the UK’s best by Coast Magazine. The historic city of Norwich is a fifty-minute drive.
