Innkeepers Lodge, The Town House

The Innkeepers’s Lodge chain of hotels is becoming very popular, and this one is housed in the Townhouse Pub and Carvery, a series of old buildings with a conservatory and large garden to the rear, overlooking the River Yare.

The immaculate en suite bedrooms are very comfortable, and a continental breakfast is served in the carvery.

A few minutes journey away by bus or car, Norwich’s historic centre is the most complete medieval city in Britain, with a magnificent cathedral, a Norman castle and half-timbered houses in narrow lanes; it is also listed as one of the top ten places to shop in the UK.

Thorpe St Andrew is a pleasant suburb with splendid views and boating trips. It is also a superb location from which to visit the unspoilt landscapes of the Norfolk Broads, and the East and North Norfolk coastlines with their miles of sandy beaches, all well under an hour’s drive.
