The house itself is charming in grey creeper-clad stone with bay windows and a fine porch and was originally built for the doctor assistant to the physician at nearby royal retreat of Sandringham. Inside, the accommodation has been awarded five stars and is featured in Alastair Sawday’s ‘Special Places to Stay’.

The large, light bedrooms are exquisite, resplendent in elegant pale florals, each with a sofa and with a gleaming tiled bathroom with a power shower. Breakfast is served at a huge mahogany table in the formal dining room and includes home-baked bread.

East Rudham is an attractive village with three pub restaurants, one of which has been renovated by TV chef Chris Coubrough (Coastal Kitchens). Houghton and Holkham Halls are nearby attractions.

Nearby Sandringham, the Norfolk retreat of HM The Queen is one of the county’s most elegant and popular attractions.

East Rudham is just a short distance from the North Norfolk Heritage Coast, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty with sandy beaches, wildlife reserves, brick, flint villages and picturesque coastal towns.
