The White Horse, Brancaster Staithe

The White Horse in Brancaster Staithe, North Norfolk has been awarded a ‘César’ by The Good Hotel Guide and was named Norfolk Hotel of the year 2014.

The superb hotel accommodation has stunning views across the sea and salt marshes. The sea laps at the bottom of the garden and rooms are built into the natural contours of the land. The new ‘Room at the Top Suite’ offers split-level accommodation with a viewing telescope to the marshes beyond. Facilities include digital flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi access.

The conservatory restaurant and adjoining sun deck command views of the marshes and Scolt Head Island Nature Reserve beyond. The AA two rosette menu focuses on fresh local seafood, including oysters from beds at the bottom of the garden. The bar, serving both wines and ales, has an open log fire and local artists exhibit regularly.

Brancaster Staithe itself is a charming former boating village. Bikes, boats and windsurfing equipment can all be rented from the village and the Royal West Norfolk Golf Course at Brancaster has a challenging eighteen-hole course. Burnham Market with its highly regarded range of sophisticated stores is nearby.

The Heritage Coast, with its charming villages, nature reserves, unspoilt beaches and basking seals, can easily be explored by road or the Norfolk Coast Path.
