Maids Head Hotel

Dating back to the 13th century, originally owned by early Bishops and once playing host to Elizabeth I, the Maids Head Hotel is certainly steeped in history, and provides luxury hotel accommodation in an iconic location opposite the magnificent Cathedral. The hotel won the EDP Hotel of the Year Award in 2008.

The hotel has a range of rooms and suites, some in a contemporary style, others with traditional charm and character; all are fully equipped for a supremely comfortable stay, and room service is available.

The Maids Head bar exudes historical charm and is reputed to be the oldest in Norwich. A new courtyard restaurant, the WinePress @ Wensum adjoins this, offering comforting food in a relaxing ambience. As the name suggests, wine is a special feature with over forty wines by the glass.

Several attractions are within walking distance, including the cobbled streets of the medieval quarter, the thatched roof independent stores of Elm Hill and the imposing Norman castle.

Norwich achieves an enviable balance as the most complete medieval city in Britain and a thriving modern metropolis, listed in the top ten cities for UK shopping.

The celebrated Norfolk Broads, bustling market towns and picturesque villages are within a short drive. The Norfolk Coast, with sandy beaches, nature reserves and traditional seaside delights is also within easy reach.
