The Old Custom House
Built in 1560 and situated on the waterfront, the Old Custom House provides Bed and Breakfast accommodation with splendid views over an environment constantly changing with the tides.
The comfortably decorated rooms are well-stocked with amenities including digital TVs and Wi-Fi access. One room offers the luxury of a four-poster bed, while the Queen’s Warehouse room downstairs features a dinette area and access to the yard. Self-catering accommodation is also available in Rose and Canary Cottages.
Breakfasts, made with fresh, local produce, have an award from the English Tourist Board and are served in a dining room overlooking the colourful harbour.
Wells-next-the-Sea has one of Norfolkâs finest beaches, bordered with huts and pine woodland, and a wide range of independent shops in Staithe Street. The Wells & Walsingham Light Railway is a steam train service connecting to the medieval pilgrimage centre and timber-framed buildings of Walsingham.
The town is situated in the centre of the Heritage Coast, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Nearby attractions include the elegant Holkham Hall, an 18th century Palladian style mansion, and the basking seals of Blakeney Point. The fine cathedral city of Norwich is a one-hour drive.
