Honoured with the ETB Breakfast Award, the first meal of the day is Aga cooked and made with the finest local produce. Communal areas include a rustic farmhouse-style breakfast room where a hearty breakfast is served, with local smoked kippers available on request.

Wells-next-the-Sea is a handsome mix of Georgian and Victorian architecture with an array of independent shops and art galleries clustered around Staithe Street. A miniature steam train connects the bustling quayside, where ‘gillying’ for crabs is a popular pastime, to a sandy beach fringed with colourful huts and pine trees and offering more adventurous water activities.

The Heritage Coast is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty and is blessed with huge skies, dramatically changing scenery and several nature reserves. The coast can be explored on foot via the Norfolk Coast Path, with the magnificent Holkham Hall and its beach, voted Britain’s finest by Coast Magazine, just a mile to the west. The colony of seals at Blakeney Point are also nearby.
