Strattons
Art, design, luxury and green ethics combine in this Queen Anne villa offering hotel accommodation. The interior oozes style, maintained and furnished with period and conservation materials by local artisans, artists and designers. There are murals and mosaics in the rooms, painted floorboards and sculpture, artworks, busts and open fireplaces throughout.
Bedrooms are first class, and furnished with similar flamboyance; memorable features include canopied four posters, a Louis XIV walnut bed and a Moroccan-style tented bathroom. Strattons was the first hotel to win the prestigious Queen’s award for Outstanding Environmental Performance for its conscientious green policy. Luxurious self-catering accommodation is now available in the Print Rooms on site.
The restaurant has been awarded ‘Best Norfolk Restaurant’ by the EDP newspaper and serves a daily-changing menu of fine local produce. Strattons has also been praised in Alastair Sawday’s book ‘Special Places to Stay’.
Swaffham is a market town clustered around an attractive market square. Located in the unique rural landscape of the Brecks, the driest part of the UK, there are numerous opportunities for cycling, hiking and horse riding on ancient tracks and forest trails.
The medieval port town of King’s Lynn is a twenty minute drive, while the cathedral city of Norwich only slightly further afield.
