College Farm

College Farm was built in 1349 to house five priests who looked after Thompson church and the village. In the sixteenth century it became a manor house and later a farm. Now it has been restored and has every modern comfort while retaining its period splendour.

Breakfast is served in the panelled dining room where a traditional afternoon tea with a tour of the house included is also available. The owner can also provide a delicious dinner with wine on request. Other meals are available in the thatched village pub nearby, The Chequers Inn.

Thompson is a pretty village with many thatched houses, near the market town of Watton. There is much to see in this peaceful corner of Norfolk, including the pingos, shallow ponds formed in the ice age, and Thompson Water, a pretty lake encircled by wooded walks.

Thetford Forest, the largest lowland pine forest in Britain, and Snetterton Racing Circuit are two of the many attractions within easy reach.

The cathedral city of Norwich with its medieval architecture, highly rated shopping and plentiful cultural amenities is a short journey. The celebrated Norfolk Broads are also well under an hour’s drive.
