Stable Cottage, Walsingham

Stable Cottage provides self-catering accommodation in a property that was once a pub stable, across the courtyard from Robin Hood Cottage, a 1720s inn where the owners also provide Bed and Breakfast stays.

The one-bedroom cottage features an open-plan living room with a range of modern amenities, including an LCD TV, DVD player and an iPod dock. Wood floors and beams create a stylish atmosphere, while the skylights make for a bright living space. Other luxury and thoughtful touches include Egyptian cotton bed lined, eco-heaters and a library of DVDs and games.

A Mediterranean courtyard with olive trees and lavender surrounds the property, making a pleasant spot for al fresco dining and relaxing.

An important Christian pilgrimage site since 1061, Walsingham was restored in the 20th century with both Anglican and Catholic replica shrines. The atmospheric village of historical timber-framed buildings also features a museum.

North Norfolk’s stunning Heritage Coast can easily be explored, with a splendid light railway connecting Walsingham to the colourful town of Wells-next-the Sea, which boasts a bustling quayside, pine-fringed beaches, art galleries and independent stores.

The market town of Fakenham and Thursford, famed for the country’s largest Christmas spectacular, are both within five miles. The cathedral city of Norwich is a fifty-minute drive.
