The Nelson
In an inn dating back to 1605, The Nelson provides Bed and Breakfast accommodation. Originally named The Mermaid, the inn was renamed in the presence of the Admiral’s father, and the local legend was reputedly a patron.
Four rooms individually designed by Jamie Knight in a contemporary style feature modern comforts and the usual amenities, with breakfast and dinner packages available.
The family-friendly restaurant offers local ingredients prepared with an international touch by the head chef, who has worked in Mexico and the Canary Islands. Works by local artists and photographers and regularly on display around the premises.
Popularly known as ‘Chelsea-on-Sea’, Burnham Market is a Georgian village built around an attractive village green. The much-loved range of traditional and independent stores includes delis, trendy clothes, bookshops, a coastal art studio and several galleries.
The dramatic coastline of the Heritage Coast is easily explored via the Norfolk Coast Path or by car. Wildlife lovers can enjoy RSPB’s Titchwell reserve nearby and Scott Head Island National Nature Reserve, accessible by boat.
Neighbouring sailing village Brancaster boasts one of the UK’s most challenging links golf courses, while the medieval port town of King’s Lynn is a forty-minute drive.
