The Cottages at Itteringham Mill
There has been a watermill on this site since medieval times; the present 18th century water mill stands over the River Bure in a spectacular tree-framed setting bordered to the south by open fields and everywhere else by trees – weeping willow, birch and alder.
The two self-contained holiday cottages are in the converted barn in the grounds of the mill and provide excellent accommodation. Kingfisher Cottage sleeps two in a galleried bedroom overlooking the mill pond, and also has a very large sitting room. Swallow Cottage sleeps four in two double bedrooms each with en-suite shower rooms. The bedrooms face south and overlook the cottage’s own garden area. Facilities include well-equipped kitchens, TVs with DVD players and CD/radios.
The surroundings here are ideal for a peaceful rural retreat; the river and gardens are a haven for all kinds of wildlife, from kingfishers to an occasional red deer.
Beyond Itteringham, this is also the perfect base from which to visit the celebrated Norfolk Broads, the North and East Norfolk coasts and the great stately homes of the area. Jacobean Blickling Hall is just three miles away and the cathedral city of Norwich is a half hour drive.
