Orchards Retreat
Orchards, the former Raveningham Parsonage, is a spacious traditional home in a very special setting. The three acres of beautiful gardens were originally laid out by Lady Priscilla Bacon, the celebrated local gardener, who also established the gardens at nearby Raveningham Hall, now open to the public.
Here at Orchards all is peace and seclusion, ideal for a quiet country retreat. The comfortable bedrooms with shared or private bathrooms have lovely views over the garden and fields. The drawing room has an open fire in winter and a baby grand piano, and breakfasts include free range eggs from the owners’ hens. Self-catering accommodation is also available in a cosy self-contained cottage in a separate wing of the house.
There are many enjoyable walks in this scenic part of South Norfolk. Hales Church, a mile or so over the fields is one of the most unspoilt Norman churches in Norfolk, and there are several open gardens in the area.
The nearby market town of Beccles on the River Waveney is on the edge of the Norfolk Broads and it is also under an hour’s drive to the sandy beaches and nature reserves of the Suffolk Coast. The cathedral city of Norwich is just twelve miles away.
