This charming 18th century house was once a school for gentlemen in the 1860’s and retains all its period character. The much praised accommodation is in beautifully decorated and well equipped rooms with many thoughtful extras. The plentiful breakfasts have won the accolade of an ETB breakfast award.

The market town of Downham Market has its market days on Fridays and Saturdays, and is noted for its nineteenth century black and white clock tower and local carrstone buildings, some showing a Dutch influence. The station has an acclaimed bar and bookshop and from here Cambridge is just 30 minutes by train.

The natural environment of the Fens provides opportunities for bird watching, cycling, horse riding and walking, and the Wash and Oxburgh Hall are only a few miles away. Just 12 miles to the north, the medieval port town of King’s Lynn has two historic market places, a number of merchant’s houses and a range of museums

The Blue Flag seaside resort of Hunstanton is a forty minute drive with the stunning North Norfolk Heritage Coast easily accessible beyond for sandy beaches, bird reserves and quaint coastal villages.

The fine city of Norwich is an hour’s drive; Britain’s most complete medieval city has a wealth of architectural gems and is famed for its fabulous shopping and first class cultural facilities.
