The Pelican Inn

Tucked away in the quiet village of Tacolneston, The Pelican is an historic free house twice voted South Norfolk Pub of the Year. The attractive en suite accommodation, equipped with a range of facilities for comfort, is in a converted barn adjoining the pub, with the advantage of independent access and privacy.

The Pelican has a contemporary dining room with an extensive British menu ranging from hearty pub classics to locally reared organic steak, seasonal game, fresh fish and vegetarian choices. A newly-opened real ale and produce shop at the pub supports 31 Norfolk and Suffolk breweries and also offers a range of specialist local produce, from chutneys to chocolates.

The Inn’s rural location is in the heart of the pretty South Norfolk countryside with plenty of cycling routes and footpaths for walkers and dotted with charming market towns and villages and medieval churches, some round-towered. Historic Wymondham is a few miles away, with its magnificent Abbey and stunning Market Cross, as well as a selection of good shops and restaurants.

The splendid Cathedral city of Norwich can be reached in under twenty minutes for a fascinating mix of ancient and modern; it has a magnificent Norman cathedral and castle and twisting cobbled streets to explore, as well as a lively cultural scene and a vast choice of stylish eateries and great shopping.

The Norfolk Broads and Great Yarmouth are well under an hour’s drive, and the sandy beaches and quaint coastal resorts of the Norfolk and Suffolk Coasts are within easy reach for a traditional seaside day out.
